| The suit accuses Philip Morris, RJR Nabisco Holdings Corp.'s U.S. tobacco unit, British American Tobacco Plc's Brown & Williamson affiliate, Loews Corp.'s Lorillard tobacco unit, and the Brooke Group Ltd.'s Liggett unit of withholding material information about smoking's cancer-causing effects. The suit seeks a court order prohibiting the companies from selling any more cigarettes, among other things. It was filed Friday by Rosie Ruth, a Weed, California widow whose husband Henry died last year, in the same state court in San Francisco where Philip Morris was ordered to pay $26.5 million earlier this year in a similar suit. |
