| Angie Dellavecchia's death may create a delay in the high-stakes penalty-fixing phase of a big case against cigarette makers. Her claim, along with that of Mary Farnan, another woman with lung cancer, was scheduled to be heard by a jury on Sept. 7.
"It's up to the plaintiffs' lawyers now,'' said Miami-Dade County Circuit Court spokesman Morton Lucoff. "They could sue on behalf of her estate, go with just one plaintiff or substitute another. If they do substitute someone, the lawyers would have to depose the new plaintiff.'' |
