San Cristobal Cigars
In 1519 a small settlement was established on a Caribbean shore caressed by warm, tropical waters and cool ocean breezes. The colonists wanted to name it San Cristobal in honor of Christopher Columbus, but the native Indians preferred to name it La Habana, it is said, after their beautiful princes. Conquistador D. Panfilo de Narvaez, would satisfy all of it inhabitants by naming it San Cristóbal de La Habana. The city we know today as Havana. With the passing of time Havana would become the capital of the beautiful Cuban island. Havana would also become synonymous world famous cigars. Through out the world, Havana cigars are known, simply as the finest cigars in the world.
To mark the 480th anniversary of the founding of Havana, on December 16th, 1999, a new brand of cigars was created. This brand was created to celebrate the name given to the city by D. Panfilo de Narvaez. A brand so exquisite that it could only be called San Cristobal.
With the introduction of the San Cristobal brand Corporacio n Habanos s.a. is offering a new masterpiece to satisfy the taste of the most demanding smokers with a unique blend of tobaccos in an exceptional range of vitolas. Each San Cristobal cigar is carefully wrapped in a dark, moisture proof wrappers, to protect its rich and full-bodied flavor. A flavor that exhibits a perfect balance between strength and complexity.
This is a completely new brand and boasts four sizes, each of which is named after one of the fronts that defended the city in its heyday when it was the hub of the Spanish empire in Latin America: El Morro, La Fuerza, La Punta, El Principe. Two of the sizes, La Fuerza (like a robusto but extra long) and El Morro (similar in gauge to a Double Corona and slightly longer than a Churchill), are entirely new and are unique to the San Cristobal brand. Each of these cigars have "exquisite aroma and inimitable flavour", a combination that is sure to satisfy all discriminating Cigar smokers and no doubt, if indeed possible, enhance the reputation of Havana cigars around the world.
