Sancho Panza Cigars
Sancho Panza is a uniquely delicate, elegant and very subtle Cuban cigar. They rank among the most consistently well-made Cuban cigars
Named for the rustic squire to Don Quixote in Miguel de Cervantes' famous 1605 novel of the same name, this very old brand was originated by Emilio Ahmsted in 1852. Afterwards, in the 80's of the 19th century, after the decease of the latter, the factory was bought by Ramón Allones and H. Upmann, who kept their habilitation and traditional quality. In 1940, the brand was registered under the name Rey del Mundo Cigar Co.
Crafted under the direction of Estelo Padrón, the great Hoyo de Monterrey cigar master, Sancho Panza is a superbly constructed, square-pressed cigar. The Sancho Panza flavor is so extraordinary, four of its frontmarks scored 90 or better in Marvin Shanken's Cigar Insider when the brand was introduced.
This cigar is quite rare and not easy to find these days. Not too strong and maybe the mildest of all models with a perfect draw and combustion. With no sweetness at all it may become tarry in the last third depending on the year of manufacturing.
Sancho Panza offers a small range of only eight models. Medium-bodied, they are suprisingly mild for a Cuban cigar. However, their grassy flavor is more unique and dominant than most Cuban cigars.
Considered to be among the best Cubans in production, they can be enjoyed everyday and are ideal for new cigar smokers. Many have recommended that Sancho Panza cigars be aged a little in order for their flavors to truly develop.
